Getting Involved
Cornell's residence halls are more than places to sleep, and so there are a lot of opportunities to get involved. From social events to paid employment, you're sure to find something that interests you.
Social opportunities
Resident assistants (RAs) and hall councils offer a variety of programs and activities for students to meet and interact. Some of these are informal "skill-based" sessions (like how to do laundry or how to register for classes). Others involve our campus partners, like encouraging residents to attend a Performing Arts & Activities Council event or getting residents of a floor or hall to to participate in the Intramural program.
Volunteer opportunities
If you're interested in joining organizations that plan programs and activities for the residence halls, that create policies, or that will help you gain experience with public speaking, budget management, or running a meeting, then we encourage you to look at what Residence Life offers.
National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH)
NRHH is a national honorary society that seeks to celebrate accomplishments of residential students.
Hall Councils
Each hall is governed by hall council composed of students and a residence life advisor. Hall councils allow students to shape their own residence hall experience while growing as leaders.
Employment opportunities
Our resident assistants and hall council advisors provide critical role-modeling and student assistance. These paid staff positions require serious commitment, but offer tremendous rewards for those ready to further develop as leaders.
