Road Trips
One of the primary focuses of the Career Engagement Center is to offer students experiential opportunities in their career development process. The Road Trips program is one of our most exciting new endeavors that gets students off campus, networks with professionals and alumni, and introduces them to a variety of companies and work environments. |
The Cornell College Career Engagement Center recently launched its first Exploreship program during the 2nd block break. The Exploreship program was designed to allow students to take a glimpse inside a particular role and organization within an industry related to their career interests. During the block break we had students exploring with partner organizations across the Cedar Rapids area in financial services, international business/supply chain management and community development. |
Cornell Fellows
Cornell Fellows is the college’s premier opportunity for high-level internships and professional mentoring. We believe students selected as Fellows are able to apply their liberal arts education to the world of work through eight-week experiences in a variety of industries across the U.S. and internationally. Started in 2005, the Cornell Fellows Programs has completed nearly 160 fellowships in 25 different academic disciplines ranging from Biology to English to Art to History. |
Career Exploration
Helping students explore and discover what they want to do after graduating from Cornell is the area of the Career Engagement Center that we work with students the most. Getting students to a place where they can define and identify their skills and interests and then match those with a specific career field is a process. Like any process, it requires planning, personal accountability, discipline, and focus. |
Employer Relations
Cornell’s Career Engagement Center (CEC) is committed to developing mutually beneficial partnerships with employers across the globe. Employer partnerships are essential to providing our students with educational experiences and hands-on opportunities that better prepare them to apply for jobs and to be hired in a competitive marketplace. |
Career Toolkit
While the Career Engagement Center staff has been busy creating new and innovative experiential programming for the Cornell College student population, we also know to succeed in any type of “real world” experience, our students still need to have a solid grasp on core professional development principles, or as we call it in our office: the Career Toolkit. |
